EXPEDITION TRUCK BASIC OFF ROAD SKILLS & RECOVERY TECHNIQUES - LEVEL I

This course is specifically aimed at owners of an Expedition truck and will focus on basic to medium off road driving skills, recovery techniques and basic truck knowledge.

We accept a maximum of four Expedition trucks per training so we can really focus on your skills and make sure that you have a steep learning curve.

This training is spread over a weekend, so two days of training in the field and one night camping on the premises of Funpark Meppen.

General information

  • Location: Funpark Meppen (Germany, near Dutch border)
  • Duration: two days
  • Maximum number of participants: four trucks
  • Language: Dutch, English, German or a mix of these.
  • Includes: two days acces to Funpark Meppen, two days training (two instructors), one night camping. RP’s tips & tricks and gear-list (PDF) after the training.
  • Food and drinks: bring your own, we can have breakfast and dinner together (BBQ on Saturday night?)
  • Price: € 750,- excl. 21% VAT per truck (two participants)
  • It is possible to arrive on Friday, camp for the night and have a fresh start (additional € 12,50 per person)

Typical program

Saturday

  • 9.00 Arrival Meppen (or the night before)
  • 9.00 – 10.00 Morning Coffee, briefing and some basic theory and specifics of the trucks.
  • 10.00 – 13.00 Exploring the terrain (on hard tires) and more theory and practice on driving techniques (reading terrain, low gear, gear selection, differential lockers and so on)
  • 13.00 – 14.00 Lunch (bring your own) in the field, discuss experiences and dropping tire pressure (2,5 – 3 Bar)
  • 14.00 – 17.00 Off road driving on aired down tires, side-slopes, hill climb, failed hill climb, hill descent and cross-axle situations. Combined with theory, best practice and hands-on (in the truck) instruction.
  • 17.00 – 18.30 Preparing camp & chill time
  • 18.30 – drinks & BBQ (bring your own)

Sunday

  • 8.30 Breakfast and briefing
  • 9.30 – 13.00  Exploring the terrain and (self)recovery techniques including kinetic rope and Vetter pillows – shovelling.
  • 13.00 – 14.00 Lunch (bring your own) in the field, discuss experiences.
  • 14.00 – 16.00 Exploring the terrain on your own, one-on-one instruction and special needs.
  • 16.00 – 16.30 Aftermath, issuing certificates and goodbye’s
